Allcott Commercial is a proud supporter of an international group of organisations that work together to set ethical principles for the real estate industry.
The International Ethics Standards (IES) Coalition was formed by a group of 16 not-for-profit organisations at the 2014 United Nations meeting, and has since grown to include around 150 member organisations. The IES set ethical requirements that anchor appropriate behaviours, leading to consistent levels of professionalism across the globe.
At Allcotts, we recognise the vital role that ethics play in our professional work, from supporting clients with structural surveys to acting as expert witness in a building dispute.
Our pledge to adhere to the highest ethical standards follows a long line of similar commitments, both at a company and individual professional level. As an RICS-regulated firm, have been committed to an excellent standard of professional conduct since our parent company, Allcott Associates LLP, was formed in 2010. As an IES Coalition member itself, the RICS sets out clear, comprehensive guidance on the ethical standards members must abide by. Furthermore, the standards are referenced in the RICS Valuation – Global Standards Red Book that we commit to when carrying out our valuation survey work.
As well as our requirements to achieve excellent standards through our RICS membership, our structural engineers are also regulated by IStructE and ICE, both of which are also IES Coalition members. We are also a company partner of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), another member of the IES coalition, and follow their standards of conduct for working in the built environment.
By supporting the IES Coalition, we are reaffirming our committment to the key principles of the coalition:
- Accountability
- Confidentiality
- Conflict of Interest
- Diversity
- Financial Responsibility
- Integrity
- Lawfulness
- Reflection
- Respect
- Standard of Service
- Transparency
- Trust.
In a rapidly changing world, ethical professionalism will naturally evolve over time. Our commercial surveyors and structural engineers regularly review our processes and pratices to ensure we deliver the very best service in an ethical manner to every client. Climate and sustainability are fast becoming key concerns, and continually expanding our codes in that respect, while maintaining the trust and standards of service that are so important in our industry, are key goals for our firm.
